CHARACTERISTICS OF A PARABOLA
The Parabola has many characteristics, which will be analysed by factoring, evaluating and graphing. Here are the most important characteristics you will need to know
- VERTEX: The vertex is the highest/lowest point on the parabola. It determines the axis of symmetry (the value where the highest/lowest value happens) and optimal value (Maximum/Miniumum y-value) depending on which way the parbolla is facing
In vertex form of the quadratic equation, "h" and "k" would represent as the "axis of symmetry" (Highest x-value) and the optimal value (highest/lowest value of y). From looking at the equation if the "a" value is negative, then the parabola would open downwards but if "a" was opposite then it is vice versa.
